Karl van Turnhout
Karl is a geologist and GIS analyst with 20 years experience in the consulting, groundwater and mineral exploration industries. He has a degree in geology from the University of Otago and a postgraduate diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing from the University of Canterbury. During the past 9 years he has gained valuable experience working on large multi-discipline, international projects in the mineral exploration and oil & gas sectors in Australia and Africa.
As Technical Systems Manager for Baobab Resources, Karl gained extensive GIS and project management experience as part of the Owner management team being responsible for the delivery of environmental impact, groundwater, surface water, resource estimation and infrastructure studies by various consultants working on the project. Over a 6 year period the management team successfully delivered Pre-Feasibility and Definitive Feasibility studies on Baobab's flagship Tete Steel and Vanadium Project in Mozambique. Karl was also GIS Lead for URS Australia's environmental management studies on the Chevron Wheatstone LNG project in the north-west of Australia.
